OUTREACH MINISTRY
The St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church “community continues to celebrate and foster the tradition of faith and service demonstrated by all the people who have gone before and who have made our Church family a strong witness to Christian fellowship and outreach.”
Within the Outreach Ministry there is a strong emphasis on the principles of Catholic social teaching. The principle of “Solidarity” is a primary focus for the Outreach Ministry which will continue to blossom throughout the St. Anthony of Padua parish community.
We are one human family and we are our brothers’ and sisters’ keepers, wherever they may be. Currently, the Outreach Ministry consists of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and a very vibrant Health Ministry that works in conjunction annually with the Morehouse School of Medicine 1st Year Medical Students from the outreach oriented “Community Health” course.
There are several Outreach Ministry “Special Projects” and activities: “Meals on Wheels” with Senior Citizens of Metropolitan Atlanta, Inc., “Habitat for Humanity” Faith and Community Partnership Build, Annual Archdiocese of Atlanta “Good Friday Pilgrimage” participation, “Hunger Walk/Run 5k” with Atlanta Community Food Bank, “Atlanta BeltLine SW 5K” with “Team St. Anthony”, social justice based “JustFaith” and “JustMatters” adult formation and community immersion courses, and several current and future community activities/events.
