Lent at St. Anthony of Padua

Lent at St. Anthony of Padua

The 40-day season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 18.

It is a time of the church year when Catholics are called to focus on:

  • Giving alms
  • Fasting
  • Praying

It is a time to hear the Word of God, to convert, to prepare for and remember Baptism, to be reconciled with God and one’s neighbour, and of more frequent recourse to the “arms of Christian penance”(134): prayer, fasting and good works (cf. Mt 6, 1-6. 16-18).

At St. Anthony Church, Ash Wednesday services will be at at 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., when ashes will be distributed.
